*Current 6th AND 7th graders who earn a GPA of 93 or higher may qualify through an application process for NJHS in April 2016*

National Junior Honor Society

The purpose of the National Junior Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage citizenship. Students must complete a membership application submitted to the NJHS Review Committee on or before the required deadline each year. Seventh and eighth grade students who have a cumulative grade point average of 93 or higher, and who complete the membership application on or before the due date are considered for membership. Seventh grade members are inducted in the spring semester.

Service Opportunities (Inside of School)

Student Mentor Program (year round):

Assist teachers for one hour a week in the morning, during Study Hall, or after school with student support and/or various classroom needs. Sign-up at the 1st meeting with assignments to follow. Service hours are equal to time served.

Scarf & Mittens Drive (December):

Collection project to benefit Love Boerne Kids and/or Taking It To The Streets. Donations earn 30 minutes of service credit. More information to come at the November meeting.

Teacher Appreciation Gift and Breakfast (May):

* Provide an expression of teacher appreciation with a special hand-written note and selected gift limited to $15.

* Participate in any part (plan, decorate, cook, serve, and/or clean-up) of the teacher appreciation breakfast to be served at the May faculty meeting.

Participation in either program earns up to three hours of service credit.

Ongoing Service Opportunities (Outside of School)

Meetings are typically held on the third Wednesday of the month during Study Hall in the back of the cafeteria. Attendance is mandatory.
